Emerging from the Haze..

We are slowly beginning to unfurl from the week that's been, gently returning to our everyday pace.  Opening windows and breathing the glorious sunshine and fresh air in, replenishing stocks of lemons and honey and attempting to remove stubborn turmeric stains from the kitchen benches.  The cupboards are bare, the washing line is full and the oil diffuser is pumping a the lovely fresh scent of lemon oil throughout the house.

We took a slow wander around the neighbourhood this afternoon, taking in all the details, watching the world pass by.  In just a few short days, our landscape looks so different. The branches no longer bare, the gardens no longer hibernating.  Spring has arrived.  And just like that, as if emerging from the very same haze that I am, petals are unfurling, bees and butterflies are busily attending to business and around each corner there is a new burst of invigorating colour.

I am so grateful for a brand new week, for good health and sunshine, for happy smiles and afternoon walks, for freshly washed sheets and homemade chicken soup. And I am grateful to have emerged from the haze of this last week of winter, into a most glorious Spring.

PS. We've all been under the weather this week, so we've been taking it very easy, sipping plenty of turmeric tea and homemade broth and curling up under colourful crochet and vintage floral with lovely stories to read.  I'm so grateful that we are all feeling much better today and spent the afternoon enjoying a good dash of almost Spring sunshine.

Consciously Crafted..

It's not very often that a day goes by when I'm not making something, or dreaming up an idea to make something.  Sometimes they are things for our home, sometimes they are things I'd love to share. Ever since we moved back to Mildura, I've been thinking about something I could create that wouldn't require too much space, that I could do while Tallow was playing or napping. Something that I could do consciously, fill with loving energy and something I could share. After participating in Kate's Motif a Day in May, I was reacquainted with my love for crochet and knew I wanted to create something special to decorate the home with. So after a little playing and a few attempts, I created my first crochet wall mandala, inspired by sacred geometry, ancient tradition and domestic arts.

After a little more experimenting, I've created my first collection, inspired and named after beautiful mother nature. There will be more sizes and colours available in the coming weeks and I will also be taking limited commission orders starting in Spring. You can find these mandalas in the online store I run with the gorgeous ladies in my life, my mum and sister, Wilde Asher.

Thanks so much for stopping by on this lovely Friday.
Have a beautiful weekend!

As We Walk..

As we walk, there is a softness in the air.
While the passers by make their way home, busying themselves with daily routine, we wander by the river each afternoon, reconnecting with the earth and with each other.

Each day tells a different story, a new painting in the afternoon sky.  Each day new buds begin to blossom, gardens come to life and springtime daffodils lift their heads to the last moments of sun.

The gums blaze burnt orange, the river runs with boundless beauty.
And I embrace it all, in every step. I breath in deeply, full of gratitude, for precious moments like these.

These Days - Late Winter..

These days the sun is shining and the days seem full of possibilities.  I'm in the midst of a beautiful crochet whirlwind, finishing off the last few crochet mandalas ready to be photographed for Wilde Asher over the weekend.  All going to plan I'll have them up online to purchase on Monday and I must admit I'm a bit excited to see the collection come together. My journal is slowly filling with inspiring images and words from the heart. Within the pages is a peaceful calm, a space where dreams are embraced and seeds are planted.

The days are getting longer and afternoon family walks are our favourite time of the day.  We explore little side streets, check out lovely gardens and collect gum leaves.  We talk about our days and what's for dinner and we talk about how we can help to make the world a better place for our rainbow girl.

I've got a new favourite spot to enjoy a pot of tea.  Completely second hand, upclycled and handmade, this little corner just outside the kitchen, over looking the herbs and veggie garden is making me very happy indeed.

There is an abundance of almonds, so we are making almond meal, almond butter and can't wait to try out almond milk too.  We are getting the imperfect ones from a local grower, which are just perfect for us and even more perfect for making fabulous vegan almond and cacao biscuits.

I've been working on a exciting magazine article that's got me so ready for the seasonal change.  Connecting with the seasons each day really has changed my whole world. I've realise more each day that I really had been letting the true beauty of life pass me by and as cliche as it may be, stopping to smell the flowers really is all kinds of wonderful.

These days are a riot of colour and foliage.  It's hard not to be smile with bunches of wattle, jonquils and rocket flowers filling our home. Spring is in the air and we are embracing that beautiful quote, 'bloom where you are planted'.

Wisps of Magic..

Wisps of magic gather about the corners of our home.
With each afternoon walk, a little something new is gathered and each fossick of the garden brings a bounty of sweet delights.
Nestled upon bookshelves, preserved in vases, gifts from mother nature are thoughtfully treasured.
He lovingly calls me the lavender thief.
And who could resist just a delicate sprig or two from a happy garden hedge.
As Spring unfurls her delicate petals, each new day is a paintbox of perfumed magic.

Making, Doing & Thinking..

I can't quite find the right words to express the week that has passed.  Emotions are so heightened, grief still feels so raw and yet in the midst of it all, the beauty of the everyday envelopes those dark moments and sprigs of fresh lavender, winter sunsets and family afternoon walks, sooth the soul, bring hope, joy and beautiful possibilities for the weeks to come. Thank you for your touching thoughts and words, throughout the week. I feel so blessed to be able to share our story in such a caring community.

This weekend I'm looking forward to working on an exciting freelance project, spending time with my journal and finishing a few new crochet mandalas (which will be coming very soon to Wilde Asher). And there's sure to be some baking and gardening too.  I can't wait for the weather to warm up just a little bit more so we can start planting our summer crop. I've got a huge list of goodness I'd love to grow and I'm just hoping to find enough spots from everything in our lovely little garden.

I really adored Kate's post this week.  Spread the love.. it's that simple.

And I loved reading about this clever couple.  Their flower exchange makes me smile.

Can't wait to try out this cute basket DIY.  Such a lovely storage solution for Tallow's favourite toys. And this branch weaving looks like so much fun, I feel a Sunday crafternoon coming on.

I just adore the styling of this home.  All those lovely hanging plants, yes I think a trip to the nursery is in order very soon.

These woven textiles are just exquisite. It's beautiful to see such amazing artisan work and is such an inspiration to develop my skills in forgotten arts and traditions.

I'm going to try making this makeup remover this weekend after having great success with the natural deodorant recipe.  I'm really excited about embarking into the world of natural and homemade personal care and beauty products. Have you tried making your own? I'd love to hear about your experiences.

This preserving book looks fabulous and as a total novice in the world of preserving I'm really looking forward to getting in on the action without having to make epic quantities.

This sweet post reminded me how much I loved to create my own zines before the days of blogging and Instagram.

I've been on the look out for great ethically made basics for so long and I'm delighted to stumble upon these fabulous designs just in time for Spring. And there is something for the whole family which is a bit exciting!

Are you joining me to Journal Your Heart Out this month? It's not too late, grab your journal this weekend and get re-acquainted.

Wishing you a most beautiful weekend!

Fly on Littlewing..

Yesterday we remembered our angel Cohen Littlewing.

Hand in hand, with a balloon for each member of our family, we wandered to a special place by the river where we held Cohen's memorial two years ago, shared precious words and watched our balloons drift together into the beautiful winter sky.

And as we played on the grass, gathered gum leaves and watched the pelicans float upstream, I knew our Littlewing was with us, in the warmth of the sun, the moon's magical afternoon presence and in our rainbow girl's cheeky smile as she took her first steps.

Fly on Littlewing..
You are always in our hearts.
