For me, there is a magic about Autumn that no other season can capture.  A crispness in the air, sepia toned afternoons, a paintbox of golden hues colouring paths and gardens and that unmistakable scent of log fires on the evening breeze.

Growing up in the tropical North I had never experienced the true magic of Autumn first hand, until our country tree change in 2008.  Each year since I have been captivated by the Autumnal splendour and now long for cooler days, crisp nights and the season for scarves, knits and tights.

This season I'm drawn to rich tones that channel the Autumnal change, warm cotton knits like this gorgeous Fabrik Fisherman sweater and sweet Oxford flats, perfect for leaf foraging and baby wrangling. Also on my Autumn wishlist, the a lovely rosehip cardigan and organic jersey fisherman pants, an essential for any new mama wardrobe.

Fabrik founder and Designer Sarah Hardie makes beautiful clothing with a conscience. Inspired by the earth and ethically created using natural dyes and organic fabrics, Fabrik's winter collection is not only gorgeous and timeless but is made 'with the warmth and care just like your nanna made them'.  What could be better than that.

The wonderful folk at Fabrik are offering one reader the chance to win a $100 gift voucher to spend on any of the gorgeous pieces in the Fabrik store (which includes delightful wares for little people too).
To enter, just let me know what your favourite season is and why you love it. This giveaway is open to readers worldwide and I'll draw a winner at random next Wednesday the 7th of May.

Good Luck!
Much Love

  1. Autumn in Australia is delightful.

    The days draw in,
    the air grows cool,
    The air is gentler, soft and mellow.
    The sun has grown a paler yellow.
    Vibrant colors of orange and pink fill the afternoons and on into the evening. I love the falling leaves I love the smell of the fireplace and the warmth of snuggling with my three babies.
    I love the change…

  6. Oh wow, I love the gold dot cardigan! Autumn is great because there are no flies or mozzies anymore, it's a lovely temperature (crisp, but not too cold yet) and my hayfever isn't as bad as it is in spring!

  8. I love any season that I'm in, especially with my boy. He's just one and delighting in his world. Right now he loves shadows, crunchy leaves and feeling the bark on trees. I love bundling him up now the weather's cooler, just as much as I loved putting him in shorts when it was warm. I'm looking forward to cold winter morning walks. And then, I'll look forward to the same walks in spring with the blossoms.

  9. I'm with the Autumn lovers. Waking up and hitching the blankets a little higher as I watch the light grow out my bedroom window. Putting on knitted socks and extra cups of tea. Welcoming the warmth of the sun. Perfect!

  10. Definitely spring! Jacaranda season, beautiful days at the beach before it gets too hot! Frangipanis and the smell of Jasmine and Gardinias in the house. And all the beautiful summer fruits coming into season. Xx

  11. Spring - all the green and blossom. We are in Spring in the UK and I am loving all the green shoots, the promise of things to come and the warmer days!

  12. My answer is twofold: in Canada, my favourite season is summer but in Australia my favourite season is autumn. I love Canadian summer for the long days, beautiful weather that never gets hotter than 30 and spontaneous days spent at the beach. I love Australian autumn because after what's usually a very long summer, it's such a relief! And it's usually still warm enough to go out in a t-shirt. Love that x

  13. I love Autumn, especially when we lived in Canberra and the city was covered in changing colours. I loved to walk down the leaf-lined streets and crunch and kick the leaves about!

  14. My favourite season is definitely Autumn too. I love it for SO many reasons. It's the season when I can start wearing my cardigans and woolies outside, explore my surroundings to forage for mushrooms &take pictures of the trees,

  15. It has always been Autumn as well, but tomorrow is the first of May and I am *still* burning the woodstove. So for today it is totally SPRING!! :-) Also, just found your blog and am enjoying it much.

  16. I used to say that my favourite season was winter. There's nothing like the magic of the first snowfall, or drinking a rich cup of hot chocolate after a Sunday afternoon skate. That being said, enjoying winter as an adult is a little different. ;) Fall is my true love; the humidity has dissipated, and 15*C days means layering and funny coloured socks.

  17. I have to say my favourite season is autumn. The world slows down. Holidays come like long-lost friends to visit. The glory of Mother Nature is evident in every facet of creation. It is a time for gathering, sitting around tables, eating scrumptious food, cuddling new babies. It is just perfection!! ~Janet

  18. Autumn is my favorite over here in the states. Every once in a while we will get a late "cool" front and the house will feel like a mid fall night. I can almost smell it!

  20. You cant beat an Australian summer - the days are longer, sunshine floods the house, more time spent outdoors, lots of socialising and BBQs with friends and family and the best seasonal fresh fruits to enjoy.

  21. It's Autumn for me! I love these cool crisp days and leaf-covered paths. It was especially beautiful when we lived in Japan, with all the lovely bright maple leaves :)
    Love your hair colour by the way! x

  22. It's super hard to choose between Autumn and Spring! I love the warmth and renewal of spring - all that new growth after the cooler months is just glorious. But, Autumn is equally as magical as we wind down and and retreat to a slower pace for the cooler months.
    Being a homebody, maybe I would have to choose Autumn. The hearty meals, layers and beautiful Autumn colours are pretty wonderful! xx

  24. Definitely Autumn! The colours all around are truly inspiring and I often myself to be most creative in this season. I love to pick the gorgeous leaves and have my little ones on walks with me, picking them and just enjoying the cool weather. Oh yes, to have a cuppa of earl grey in Autunm is only of those simple delights in life one must certainly be thankful for=)

  27. SUMMER!!!! I love the heat, the sunshine, the colour, the fact that the orchards and market gardens are busting with life and fruit and the ease of dressing - just a dress and sandals.
    Hope you guys have a gorgeous weekend Sophie xx

  28. Winter for sure, layering warm hand knits, tights and boots...snuggled up on the couch under handmade quilts with yarn in your hands as you make something special for someone. I love warming up a hot waterbottle for bed, feeling cozy in floral flannelette sheets! Watching the tree show their bones to the sky all bare and amazing. I truly adore winter.

  29. During the year I fondly think of the cooler months and being able to rug up with snuggly blankets and eat big bowls of steaming soup, but when the cold hits I remember how much I hate it. My favourite season is summer. Give me hot days, long hours of sunshine, bright blue skies and the smells of summer any day!

  30. I love each season and am always ready for the change over when it happens...Winter's cold days, maybe some snow, keeping warm by wood fires, long, long evenings and icy breath...Spring with all it's promise, green shoots, flowers, leaf buds, colours, bird song, lighter evenings, emerging outside and preparing for what comes next...Summer where the days seem to last forever, sleepouts on the trampoline or in a tent, endless days and long long holidays, beach trips, eating out, camp fires and the warmth of the sun on our skin...Autumn mornings with wisps of mist and spiders webs sparkling with dew, the smell of smoke in the air, bonfires and fireworks, warm soups and big piles of crisp and brightly coloured leaves...Yes I love every single one and am very grateful to live in a country where I get to enjoy them each and every year...

  38. Autumn, in the words of Keats Ode to Autumn
    "...Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
    Think not of them, thou hast thy music too, -
    While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day
    And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
    Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
    Among the river sallows, borne aloft
    Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
    And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
    Hedge-crickets sing, and now with treble soft
    The redbreast whistles from a garden-croft;
    And gathering swallows twitter in the skies."

    The beautiful images these words evoke sum up better than i can this lovely time of year x

  39. Oooooh! I almost didn't even see this giveaway, too busy swooning over those Oxfords (perfection), and furiously trying to get onto the Fabrik website (down for maintenance :-( :-( ). I don't know that I have a favourite season, though Autumn and Spring have a bit of something special. The drawing-in of Autumn, and the tenderness of Spring. I had a whole bunch more in my head, something about childhood memories and nostalgia and fresh clear air, but it all just sounded way too cheesy (even though I totally meant it). Anyway, I'm gonna go and see if I can get onto that site now. Thanks :-)

  40. Since I moved to Finland (from Vietnam), summer has been my favorite. Summers of the Nordic countries are short (3 months sharp). During summer, sun shines, days are longer than nights, flowers bloom and I could walk to the beach every day until late night since the sun is still shining. Other then 3 summer months, the rest of the year is winter-y climate with strong wind, hard rain, hard snow and temperature below 5 celcius degrees :( so summer's coming and I'm seizing every moment to enjoy it before slipping into a bleak non-summer time.

  41. I love summer, longer days, warmth, BBQs, swimming, wearing shorts and sun dresses, beach trips, hot dog, lemonade, sunshine, tans, freckles, hanging out in the park, enjoying the warm evening air. Thanks for the giveaway!

  46. I love spring the most. It's not to terribly hot and it's not so cold I can get out of the winter funk. The colors of the budding flowers get me so excited to be out in the sunshine.

  50. Definitely autumn, no more insane heat, crackling fires, delicious foods, and perfect walks down the river. The rains come and wash the red dirt away and just sometimes the lawn crackles white with frost, but not so often yet that I curse it.

  51. My favourite season is definitely Autumn. I love how the light shifts and gives everything a golden hue. It's almost as if you can smell the season changing. Such a magical time of year!

  52. I love autumn. I feel so alive when the weather is crisp and cool. I love the sensation of the fallen leaves crunching under my feet as I hike through the woods and parks near my home.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Can I combine two? I would have to say late winter and early spring. When it is still cool enough for layering, endless hot chocolate and soup but there are little signs about that soon everywhere will bloom to life. The first little buds on cherry blossoms, golden daffodils standing above frosty ground and the warming sun on cheeks.

    Spring; a time to open the blinds and dust off the dark warmth that winter evokes. Spring, to bring new life and ideas into everyday thoughts, moments and conundrums. New projects, new colours and the ability to show what's been hiding underneath our winter coats. Sandals, flowers and longer afternoons.

  55. Definitely winter. Living in Alice Springs for the past two years, summers are long and harsh. With winter comes crisp, cool air, deep blue skies and energy. Although here, we really only have two seasons to choose from: hot and cold. There's not much in between.

  56. I was born an autumn baby so fall is my favorite.I love the cooler temps and the changing leaves.but spring is a close second because flowers are my passion.

  59. I adore Autumn, as well! Especially the start when the crowds have left the beach, but it's still sunny and warm enough to swim ... but chilly enough for a curry at night. It's like the best of both worlds! Kellie xx
