Tend Your Days..

After my ponderings about Romancing the Everyday last week, I was delighted to stumble across this lovely quote yesterday.  It light a spark within me and really confirmed my thoughts about finding those magical moments in the everyday.

As I listened to the rain clatter upon the roof early this morning, wide awake far too early, with a million thoughts racing through my head (oh pregnancy insomnia, you are all kinds of fun), I recalled this quote and gently reminded myself to breathe deeply, take a moment and simply enjoy the rain's magical song. And you know what, it made the world of difference.

Wishing you a magical Tuesday..

Lovely Things..

Happy Monday! I do hope you are having a most wonderful start to the week.  My week has begun in a delightful fashion indeed and I just wanted to share a few lovely things that have been happening in my world.

A little while back the lovely Lottie from Oyster & Pearl interviewed me for Gathered by Mollie Makes and our chat can be found in this week's issue.  In the interview, I talk about my blogging adventures, designing jewellery and creating Wilde Asher as a true family affair.

I'm quite new to Gathered by Mollie Makes and am just loving their gorgeous interactive layout and weekly dose of creative goodness.  It's such a delight to be a part of this week's issue.  Pop over here to check out the issue and of course all the other wonderful inspiration Mollie Makes has to offer.

In other lovely news, I'm super excited to be one of the new blog contributors for the Life Instyle blog, along with some of my favourite design bloggers and fabulous creative ladies.  Be sure to stop by the blog throughout the month for plenty of creative inspiration and design tips.  In May, I'll be sharing some eclectic living area styling ideas.

I can't wait to hear about the lovely things that have been happening in your world too!

Secondhand Maternity Style - 18 Weeks

Dress: Thrifted Cardigan: Thrifted
Tights & Shoes: Target (a few years ago) Belt: Kmart
Brooch: Vintage

Last Sunday Ben and I took a slow adventure to Mount Mee, pottering through Dayboro and up the mountain into the crisp Autumn air for a sweet little picnic under the eucalypts. There is just something a magical about Sunday picnics and we spent the afternoon reminiscing about our childhood adventures and looking to the future and our new adventures with our sweet bubba.   The weather called for long tights and my favourite thrifted cardigan, its cotton sleeves just perfect for this lovely Autumn adventure. As the days become cooler and the nights a little longer, there's been a beautiful change in the air and lively conversations, new ideas and exciting future plans leave us filled with joy and inspiration for the weeks ahead.

And now as Friday greets us again, with a beautiful full moon, I'm looking forward to this weekend's adventures, a potter around the Powerhouse markets and the Botanic Gardens and a trip north to the Sunshine Coast for our slow Sunday adventure.

What are your plans this weekend?

Wishing you a most delightful Friday!

What are you Making?

Right now I'm in between crochet projects.  I've got half finished projects and the beginnings of others, none of which I'm totally into at the moment.  I've got little stashes of yarn all over the place from previous projects, granny squares longing for friends and a lovely fresh pair of knitting needles to try out too.  I've got a book of lovely retro patterns on my bedside table, so many ideas (especially for baby blankets) but I just can't quite find the 'right' pattern or the perfect rainbow hues to play with.  So right now, this is what my project bag looks like.  I think I might make an Autumn beret or two and perhaps a few pom poms, while I wait for baby blanket inspiration to strike.

And I'd LOVE to know, what are you making at the moment? What's on your hook, needles, sewing table, dining table, living room floor? Where are your creative adventures taking you?

Romancing the Everyday..

As I contemplate slow living and going back to basics, I'm also noticing my love for the simple things, the sweet pleasures in life that previously I've been too rushed to notice.  And it is in those moments that life's joyful romance can truly be found. Creating a little romance in my everyday life was such a beautiful revelation, inspired in part by the beautiful book which rarely leaves my bedside, Velvet Pears.  It is as if I've found an eternal Spring after a cold Winter by living more mindfully, finding the delight in the day-to-day and being conscious of life's magic sparks.

Making a cup of tea - Such a lovely ritual that I would so often rush.  Now I choose my favourite cup and saucer and my tea of preference (or hot water and lemon of late) with care and take a few minutes to really enjoy the tea making process.  Waiting for the kettle if such a nice time to daydream or just switch off for a moment.  I love drinking my morning cup of tea in the sunshine, usually accompanied by my journal and revel in the pleasure of that simple few minutes to just be.

Watering the garden - If you had told me twelve months ago that my favourite place to spend the afternoon would be in the garden, I wouldn't have believe you for moment.  But somehow beautiful Mother Earth has taken me in her loving embrace and helped me to find such peace and joy in tending to my little garden.  It's the most wonderful ten minute meditation, a time to breath, to quietly observe all the tiny happenings and to let the earth ground me.

Looking at the Stars - One of the goals on my life list is to learn more about the star constellations and it wasn't until recently that I realised, it was only on the odd occasion I would actually look up at the night's sky.  Taking a few moments to go outside at night and really look at the stars, is such a magical experience, no matter how many times you've done it before.  While gardening connects me to the earth, stargazing reminds me just how tiny this beautiful world really is.

Decorating with love - I love feathering my nest, decorating and making my space feel like home, but cleaning.. that word has never sat well with me.  So I've decided to rethink the word 'clean' and call it 'decorating with love', so I can bring a little beauty into this every day task.  I light some candles, play some lovely music and daydream while I work.  Once I've finished, I treat myself to a little styling, creating a new vignette here and there or adding some flowers or garden cuttings to a vase.  I found great joy in styling with everyday objects and am always on the lookout for simple treasures to add to my nest.

I'd love to hear about ways you create romance in your everyday life.  Where do you find life's magic spark?

Secondhand Maternity Style - 17 Weeks

Shirt & Umbrella: Cotton On (2012) Dress: Thrifted
Tights: Kmart Boots: Vintage Necklace: Wilde Asher (coming soon)

We took these photos last Saturday in a rather impromptu 'let's dance in the rain' moment on the way home from a rainy morning pottering in West End.  By chance we stumbled upon a lovely big field, filled with cockatoos, also making the most of their rainy Saturday.  I've been having fun reworking my wardrobe to accommodate my rapidly growing bump and I'm really happy to see some cooler weather, which means I can rework some of my summer dresses and finally wear my favourite vintage boots.  I'm still enjoying my secondhand challenge and am also looking forward to upcycling a few pieces from my wardrobe to see me through the next few months.  The necklace I'm wearing is a harmony ball and it makes the most beautiful soft little chime that bubba should enjoying hearing soon too.  I love the idea behind them so much, I'm really looking forward putting some together for our shop soon too.

Oh and speaking of reworking my wardrobe, I'm in the midst of Autumn/maternity wardrobe organising and I thought it might be the perfect time to do a little 'shop my wardrobe' on Instagram.   Pop over to 'Her Wardrobe Adventures' (sounds like an adventure to Narnia) if you'd like to check out vintage, retro inspired, pre-loved clothing and retro wares (vintage aprons, sheets and other goodies) from my wardrobe. I'll be adding lots more over the next few days.

Happiest of Fridays to you!

Setting Sail - 'Tales of the Sea' Launch

It's been such an exciting week in my little world.  First I got to share our exciting news and today I get to share the other exciting project I've been working on over the past few months, 'Tales of the Sea' my first co-designed jewellery collection for Wilde Asher

This collaboration has been a true family affair, with my mum Annie, Wilde Asher's creative designer mentoring me through the design and construction process of each unique piece and my gorgeous sister Phoebe, modelling the collection and editing the our lookbook shoot. To transform my ideas from journal scribbles, to creation and then style and photograph the finished products has been such a wonderful experience.  The collection is inspired by my fascination for the ocean, from the lost city of Atlantis, to beautiful mermaids, pirates and mythology.  With many of the pieces containing vintage components and gems that I've been collecting for years, making 'Tales of the Sea' is very dear to my heart.

Pop over to Wilde Asher to check out our lookbook and view the whole collection.

And be sure to pop over to the Wilde Asher blog to enter our 'Tales of the Sea ' giveaway for a chance to win this one of a kind, handmade 'Mermaid Song' necklace from the collection. Be quick, the giveaway closes tomorrow night.

Thank You!

Thank you so very much for all your gorgeous comments about our exciting news.  This little miracle has entered our world at the most wonderful time and we are beyond delighted to be embarking on this beautiful journey.

I'm almost 18 weeks along and am so happy to be feeling great and have most my energy back, after a rather lethargic first trimester.  We are very fortunate to have an amazing support team of midwives and doctors whose compassion and care have made our experience so far, very special indeed, right down to the details, like this super cute image of our little one's tiny feet.

And while we wait as patiently as possible to meet our precious one in five short months time, we are looking forward to finding ourselves a new nest to feather very soon and begin preparations for our brand new adventures.

Your ongoing love and support on our journey, especially over the past year has meant so much and I feel so blessed to have such beautiful and inspiring people by my side.

Much Love
Sophie, Ben and our very happy little camper!

Friday Thrifting..

It's been a little while between thrifting adventures and I was so delighted to get out and about for a little wander today.  Between not having much space to keep new treasures and being extra mindful about my 'stuff' accumulation, I've been extra good of late with my thrifty adventures.  But I couldn't resist just a few delights today.. All of which just happened to match my shoes!

Just a little Johnson treasure.. This pattern always makes me smile.

A little tablecloth love..

And it was impossible to walk by this super cute Willow canister.. A lovely addition to my  collection..

I'd love to hear about your recent thrifting adventures too. It's been far too long!

Happy Friday!

April Journal Pages..

I know it must be time to get the glue and scissors out and open the pages of my inspiration journal, when all my favourite magazine pages are torn out and waiting patiently, almost overflowing from between the covers.  I like to let them accumulate a little, to find images that come together and tell visual stories of my daydreams.  This afternoon seemed like the perfect opportunity and a lovely wind down after a day of fiddling with photoshop and html coding over on our Wilde Asher blog.  Here are a few of my April pages ..

From Little Things.. Inspired by garden dreams and afternoons in the sun

Home.. Inspired by found treasures and thoughts of finding our perfect home.

She's a Keeper.. Inspired by travels, patterns and everyday beauty. (Gorgeous illustration from Frankie magazine by  Helena Randall)

My favourite little details..

I'd love to know what you've been creating lately too!
