On the Move..

The shelves are empty, the boxes packed and only the odds and ends remain.. Those wonderful pieces you accumulate over the years that are too heavy, precious or just downright unusual to fit neatly into a box (which for me includes a rather silly amount of typewriters). Our spirits are high,  anticipation fills the air and my nesting mode is now set to turbo as I wait with as much patience as I can muster, to finally feather a nest to call our home.

The moving process begins tomorrow and it looks like the sun might just peek through the winter clouds especially for the occasion.  Now if only I could find the energy to pack these last few boxes and hang out a final load of washing or two, rather than procrastinating (make that procrastapinning) and searching for fabulous kitchen inspiration (I'm totally adoring this one by the way).

Here's to exciting new adventures!
I'll be back on Sunday and can't wait to share some everyday moments from our new home.

And if you have any last minute moving tips I'd love to hear them!
Much Love

  1. Lots of tea helps. If anything breaks just know you can replace it - it is only an object. Wishing you well on your exiting move!

  2. My tip is to google some good take-away places before you leave, ready for the first night mandatory carpet picnic dinner. Enjoy! At least it's not too far!

  3. My mom gave me these when I moved:

    1. Set aside one box for bed linens and cups and plates and silverware for the first night in. Move this box first or last - just dont lose it!
    2. Move your bed in first and make it - you wont have the energy to do it last.
    3. Have a ready change of clothes - including sleepwear, a couple of towels and washcloths. and toiletries for the first night.

I hope your move goes well!

  4. Take lots of nanna naps or in your case mummy to be naps...in between packing boxes. It's a lovely feeling to be actually moving even though moving is the pits...you are able to settle down and hang your hat somewhere for your precious baby to enter this world. Hope the rain stays away, all the best it's a painful job but at least you can just quote "I can't lift that because I'm pregnant - and in fact use that line often because you shouldn't be lifting anything even if you think you can. Take care and I'm sure your readers look forward to show and tell of your new home next week. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

  7. My tip is keep a pair of scissors unpacked. That way you can open boxes with ease. Also keep a box of anything absolutely necessary for your first night. Bedding, towels, toiletries, change of clothes, etc.

Good luck! Can't wait to see glimpses of your new nest!

  8. We move every 2-3 years, and the biggest tip I can give is set up one space first. I always try to set up our bedroom (the bed at least) so I know we'll be getting good shut-eye for the tasks ahead. I then tackle the kitchen, because it is important to me to be able to cook. Take your time in each room, and have fun!

  13. That typewriter is adorable!!! Moving can be so difficult and exhausting! :) Last year my hubby and I finally moved to our first place and we had only our clothes and some utensils for kitchen (from my mom), a desk and a chair and I thought it was insane. However, it was an adventure I thought was going to end as soon as we settle into our new tiny apartment. Well, I soon found out that was only the beginning!.. :) So, good luck with your move!! Enjoy every moment! :)
