Feeling Inspired...

After making my little 'Welcome Winter' list a few days ago, I've been filled with ideas for keeping warm, inspired and creative over the coming months.  I took advantage of my delightful afternoon off work, enjoyed the warm Autumn sunshine and began to bring my ideas to life.

This Winter I'm inspired by..

Quiet moments for journalling..

Making afternoons all about tea and crochet..

Getting crafty and trying something new..

Filling my home with bursts of colour..

Baking yummy sweet treats.. (this book is one of my favourites)

Reading classic novels.. snuggled under a crocheted blanket of course

Embracing the beautiful afternoon sunshine..

What's inspiring you right now?

Midweek Thrifting..

After a midweek thrifting outing with the girls from work, I'm feeling super inspired by lovely typography and retro prints.  And I just love when my thrifted finds all seem to match. It seems very fortuitous indeed! It's a shame I can't use them all at the same time, but never the less, I can't wait to put my new treasures to good use.

I was so delighted to find this set of Willow canisters that matches the sifter I found a few months back.

And this gorgeous 1960s mustard wool dress is going to be just perfect for winter.

And I'm always on the look out for beautiful classics and this sweet copy of Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea was hard to resist.

Have you been on a thrifting adventure this week?  Can't wait to hear about your discoveries.

The Last Days of Autumn..

As the days grow shorter, the nights grow colder and the  remaining golden maple leaves fall to the ground.. there is a soft song on the breeze that calls, the last days of Autumn are near..

Autumn has always been my favourite time of year.  One of the reasons we bought our little cottage is because there is an amazing maple tree right in the backyard, so I'm always a little sad when the maple tree is bare, I have to exchange my ballet flats for boots and the sun sets before I have time to enjoy the afternoon.

But this year, I've decided to embrace the beauty of winter... After all it is the perfect time to crochet, drink hot chocolate, enjoy open fires, dinner parties and lazy Sunday mornings.

So, as I enjoy the last beautiful days of Autumn, here is my little 'Welcome Winter' list.. to inspire me on those cold mornings when I'd like to stay in bed a little bit longer.

'Welcome Winter Inspiration'

Thrift a lovely winter coat and some pretty scarves to make the cold mornings more pleasant
Stock up on yarn and hooks for an array  of upcoming crochet projects
Make plans for a themed dinner party and bonfire night
Invest in some pretty socks and slippers to keep my toes warm
And some more colourful tights to brighten up my winter wardrobe
Find the perfect hot chocolate recipe
Make a winter reading list.. and start reading!
Enjoy the early afternoon sunshine and work outside
Buy Polaroid film and capture a misty winter morning
Write letters, watch old films and snuggle under layers of floral and vintage crochet

What are your plans for staying warm this winter? And if you're about to head into the beautiful warmth of Summer I'd love to hear your winter inspiration ideas too! How do you make the most of the short days and cold nights!

A Nautical Afternoon..

Dress: Dotti  Cardigan: Target
Tights: Target  Belt: Borrowed from Sarah
Shoes: Rubi (I added the buttons) Brooch: Vintage

After another super busy weekend finished all my designs from my textiles project, it was so nice to go for a stroll after work today and take in the last days of Autumn.  After staring at the computer screen for all day yesterday, I was pretty drained this morning but after a wander by the river and a lovely chat with my hubby, I'm super inspired and really looking forward to June.  I love the weather at the moment, even if the mornings are a little bit chilly.  It's the perfect time of year for dresses, tights, cardigans and ballet flats.. my all time favourite kind of outfits.  I grabbed this dress on sale last week and I'm so glad I did, it's one of those perfect wardrobe staples and super fun to accessorize.  This week I'm finally free from Uni work and am really looking forward to getting my creative groove on, catching up on some reading (books and blogs) and working on some fun blog posts.

What are you looking forward to this week?

Flea Market Finds...

Happy Sunday my lovely thrifting friends! What have you been up to this weekend? I hope you've enjoyed some lovely moments with family and friends and had some wonderful thrift finds too! Pop over here to check out all the delightful finds from last week and enjoy all the vintage goodness.

This week I search high and low for my treasures, it seems the cold weather around here is stopping people parting with their lovely old bric a brac.  I thought all may have been lost and I would come home empty handed until I found these gorgeous treasures hiding in a corner.  They certainly made my day!

My find of the week was certainly these gorgeous yellow and grey canisters.  I just love the style and lettering and even through it's not quite a full set, they are such a lovely way to brighten up a room (I love seeing canisters in fun expected places).

Another sweet find was pair of Johnson cups in a sweet new to me sunflower design

And in keeping with the florals, I spied this lovely serving tray, just perfect for afternoon tea..

I'd love to know what you found this week. To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. It would be just so sweet of you to link back here from your blog too, so that others can play along. Remember you can play any time during the week! Oh and pop over to Apron Thrift Girl for Thrift Share Monday. Please feel free to upload your fabulous finds to the Flea Market Finds Flickr pool too. What I Wore... Autumn Afternoon

Dress: Thrifted (originally Kate Moss Topshop) Top: Dotti
Tights: Kmart  Shoes: Thrifted

The weather was so gorgeous yesterday afternoon and after spending the day staring at the computer screen working on my Uni project, we headed out to one of our favourite local spots, Lock 11 for some much needed Autumn sunshine.  I thrifted this Kate Moss Topshop dress last week and it has quickly become a favourite in my Autumn wardrobe.  The print and colours are so sweet and a lovely distraction from all the black I've been wearing lately.  And the balloon.. well everyone needs a yellow balloon to brighten their day!

What item are you loving in your wardrobe right now?
