Monday Daydreaming..

I love to daydream and this afternoon I found myself longing for a delightful little portal to another place and time.  An brief escape from my after work meeting and epic list of to do.  A beautiful spot to spend the a few hours with a lovely book and a pot of tea and this amazing tree house looks like the perfect place to me.

Do you daydream of lovely places to visit? Where you you like to spend the afternoon?

Beautiful image from Treehouse Point, a wonderful getaway where you can actually stay in this dreamlike treehouse.

What I Wore.. Ray of Sunshine

Dress (worn as top): Cotton On Skirt: Vintage/Thrifted
Cardigan: Target  Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Rivers  Brooch: Vintage

After a few weeks of wearing more subtle outfits, I thought it was high time I got back into colour.  I find it a  challenge as the seasons change to not follow the cooler weather and head straight for my trusty stash of black dresses but yesterday the sun was shining and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to wear some florals and some spots for a creative afternoon.  I've also been wearing this Target cardigan almost non stop.  Its a really lovely shape and I just can't resist a love heart or two.  Now I'm on the search for a few more colourful cardigans for Winter and I'm also on the lookout for a perfect navy and white striped tee. If you see one I'd love to know! It seems I'm a little bit navy obsessed right now and I'm looking forward to adding a few more navy pieces to my wardrobe, especially a pair of closed in clogs to wear with tights.

What are you dreaming of adding to your wardrobe at the moment?

DIY Round Up.. Cute Collars

I'm such a fan of pretty collared tops and if I had it my way, I'd have a whole wardrobe filled with them! In our little town,  cute peter pan collars are a bit tricky to come by so this afternoon I set about making a few of my own to add to basic tees for winter.  The sun set before I had a chance to photograph my upcycled creations, so stay tuned for them in the coming days. For now, because it's Saturday and the perfect time for DIY fun, I thought I'd round up all my favourite crafty collars. Enjoy!

A gorgeous cream collar to dress up any outfit..

A classic white collar with pretty scalloped edging

Or why not try leather with a sweet bow

Go pretty and girly with lovely lace

Or add cute flowers just in time for Spring..

And why not go all out and just add GLITTER

How do you like your Peter Pan collars?

My Collections - Part 5.. Vintage Cameras

There is something about old cameras I just adore... All the memories they have captured over the years, stirs in me true sense of nostalgia and every time I find one on a thrifting adventure, it just has to come home with me.  Now I love all old cameras but I'm particularly partial to Polaroids.. and over years of searching and a few very lucky finds, I've discovered a few treasures.

I just love all the different shapes and sizes, flashes, boxes and old instruction manuals.

I have spent years searching for a cream Polaroid One Step with the adorable rainbow and I was so excited to find one at the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market in NYC.  But would you believe within a month of getting home from my trip I found the 1000 (with the green button) at a little second hand store on the outskirts of town.  So now I have a gorgeous pair!

I also have a pair of fabulous old Polaroid land cameras, that just make my heart sing every time I pick them up.  Although  until now I have only used them for props, so I can't wait to fire them up one day!

So what does one do with this many cameras? Take lots of photos of course! Now I haven't tried them all, so I'm not sure if many of them work, but on my to do list this year is to purchase a whole stack of film and find out.  I can't wait to see the weird and wonderful outcomes and really,  there is nothing quite like shaking a Polaroid picture!

Do you have a thing for cameras? I'd love to hear about your collection!

What I Wore.. Gathering Leaves

Top: Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's Skirt: Sunny Girl
Belt: Thrifted Sunglasses: c/o Mix Apparel
Shoes: Cotton On - Painted by me

So as I spent most of the weekend in my 'making a mess' attire, this was my most creative outfit for the weekend and was quite suitable for our leaf gathering picnic.  The skirt is one of my favourites and I've had it since I worked at a little boutique on the Gold Coast about eight years ago.  I still wear it often and it always seems to blend in nicely with the surroundings.  I painted these cheap Oxfords a few months back after a year of not wearing them once.. Now I wear them all the time! Amazing what a little bit of paint can do.. although I'm not sure how they would fare in the rain.  Another item getting a workout in my wardrobe is this tee, I bought it in New York and I can't believe how handy it is.  That and I always feel a little more chic when I'm wearing Karl Lagerfeld, even when I'm searching for pretty leaves.

What's your go 'chic' wardrobe item?

Flea Market Finds

Happy Sunday my thrifting friends, I do hope you are having a wonderful weekend full of thrifty goodness.  Thanks so much for playing along last week, all those beautiful finds send my heart a flutter! Pop over here to check them all out and enjoy the vintage fun.

This week the local thrift shops were a little low of vintage goodness, so I was delighted to find a few sweet treats yesterday after some searching and a little bit of luck too!

My favourite find this week is this lovely Polariod camera in its gorgeous original case, complete with instructions and flashcubes.  I love the touch of pink on the front and I'm thinking that case might just make an amazing handbag!

I'm also loving this little orange teapot.. the perfect size for one.

Of course a thrifting week is not complete without a few pretty plates and saucers.

And I found a stash of really gorgeous scarves.. my favourite is this one. which reminds me of this Mary Quant inspired image.

I'd love to know what you found this week. To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. It would be just so sweet of you to link back here from your blog too, so that others can play along. Remember you can play any time during the week! Happy Weekend..

Happy Saturday! I hope you are having a most lovely start to your weekend.  Mine has been busy indeed as I'm working on a textiles project for Uni and have spent the morning gathering Eucalyptus leaves to be illustrated and hopefully used to naturally dye some fabric.    At the moment the house smells like a old gum tree and I can't wait to see the results of my morning's experimenting.  There was also a little bit of thrifting involved on the way to the leaf gathering site and a lovely picnic lunch by the billabong (doesn't that sound very Australian!). What are your plans this weekend? Looking for something lovely to do? Why don't you..

Get inspired to decorate from this lovely home
Make a super cute paper bouquet
DIY a sweet little wooden trivet for your teapot
Create your own outdoor cinema
Learn how to do a lovely crown braid
Wear a fabulous pair of ballet flats
Add some cute hearts to your sweater sleeves
Learn how to dye leather (so interesting!)
Get crafty and make a rainbow doormat
Or add a rainbow to your wardrobe

I'll be back a little later on with a very botanical DIY.

Tonight at My Place..

It's been one of those whirlwind weeks, the first week of Term Two, a stack of essays to mark, Uni assignments in full swing, a house full of vintage and not quite enough hours in the day. So this is what's happening at my place.. A lovely pot of tea and the new issue of Frankie.  There's also yummy homemade pumpkin soup for dinner and a DVD or two.

A lovely Friday evening indeed..

My Vintage World..

Just a little moment from my vintage world that makes me smile..

Autumn Reading.. *bespoke* zine

I was so delighted when opened up my letterbox the other day to find the gorgeous new *bespoke* zine inside.  It's the sweetest publication and always puts a smile on my face.  Issue 6 features the most lovely Autumn inspired cover art by Felicity Gardner and lots of lovely treats inside.  Here are a few of my favourites..

I was so delighted to see the lovely Katie and Reuben  from House of Humble sharing their world in a wonderful interview featuring some of the gorgeous images from their blog.

I also enjoyed Melanie from Mui and Umi's article on Mintage  featuring outfits from K is for Kani.  Melanie's inspiring article about creating a fun and quirky wardrobe that doesn't have to cost the world, certainly made me smile.

And guess what, if you turn to page 31 will even find a little article by me all about one of my favourite pastimes.. thrifting of course! I was so excited to put together my top thrifting tips and hope they might come in handy on your next thrifting adventure.

*bespoke* zine is such a lovely, inspiring read and is the perfect size to pop in your handbag and take out of a delightful Autumn afternoon adventure.  You can find out more about *bespoke* and purchase a copy on their website and also check out all their fun updates on Facebook.
