Letting Go..

Never before has a quote been more true or more profound to my soul..

It amazes me how a person's thoughts from so long ago can transcend time and space and resonate with another in such unique way. Do you have a particular quote that you are connected to? I would love to hear about it.

Much Love

  1. An amazing, thought provoking quote.
A couple of my favourites are-
'Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway' Earl Nightingale
'Let us be grateful for people who make us happy. They are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.' Marcel Proust

  2. Oh my! I have so often reflected on this since my precious first born son arrived 15 weeks earlier than expected and opened up to a brave new world we hadn't anticipated. You are wonderful and deserving and lovely things will come your way x

  3. not so much a favourite quote, but I'm looking back to the first weeks I 'met' you via your blog. There was a Tsunami in Japan and you did fund raising with little brooches with Hope. typed on them. I still have mine, I wear it often, and think of you. yes, there is always Hope. x

  4. What a beautiful quote.

I'm such a quote gal - I have them up all over my room. However, there are a lot of amazing quotes that Albus Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series says, that I just love. I used a lot of them in my sermon this summer. Here is one of my favorites.

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”

  5. Hello and so nice to have you pop over and meet Betsy. My favourite since I was 16- "Each day is fresh, with no mistakes"from Anne of Green Gables. Another one I keep on my desk at work- it is not what life throws at us, but how we deal with it, that makes us who we are. You will be strong, wiser and more empathic now for the rest of your life and that is a powerful thing. mel x

  6. This is the quote I needed tonight. I keep getting caught in this limbo where I only think about where I am 'supposed to be', or what direction my life is 'supposed to be taking', and it gets me in such a funk! This quote helped me clear my cluttered head. Thank you, lady.

  7. Such wise words by E.M. Forster. I don't think anyone's life is exactly as planned. Disappointments and heartbreak, and unexpected happinesses reveal themselves every day. As the mother of an autistic 20-year old, I know that life goes on despite a re-alignment of dreams. Wishing you great things in life!

  8. This is a favorite of mine "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."

  9. Beautiful quote.
I love "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. It inspires me to do whatever makes me happy and not listen to what others expect of me. :)

  10. Interestingly, this is also the quote that resonates with me so much at the moment (I posted it on Nov 11th! :) However, I found it attributed to Campbell instead of Forster in a Julia Cameron book... confusing).

My other quote of choice just now is this:

'Change everything except your loves.' - Voltaire

  11. Hi Sophie, I have been reading your blog on and off for a while now.
I feel like I have been living this quote for the past year! Ever since I got married in 2004 I have desperately wanted children and lived with a cloud over me because of it. But last year little by little the cloud lifted and this year has been just glorious. As my focus changed from what I had planned, to what is, possiblities opened up and I saw my life in a whole new way. I am not even sure that I want children now. I am not saying that this will be true of you, and I do not wish to gloss over the deep pain you have been through. I am just amazed at my own change of outlook and this quote expresses that. I hope all goes well with you and you settle into city life.
By the way, I live in Ipswich and there are some really good op shops out here.
