Are you a Journal Lover?

I'm so excited to announce that next week on Her Library Adventures is Journal Week.  I've been an avid journal keeper since I was ten years old and I take my journal with me everywhere I go.  I know so many amazing journal keepers and I thought what better way to celebrate this lovely art form than with a week devoted to all the beautiful diaries, notebooks, sketchbooks and journals and stationery from around the world.

So to make this week happen, I'd love your help.  Do you keep a journal or know someone who does? Do you have a secret stash of notebooks or do you doodle on napkins  at restaurants.  I'd love to hear from all the journal lovers out there.  I'll be sharing some of my own pages, some of my favourite artists and of course some lovely journal eye candy too!

I'd love you to join in the week!
Email me at sophieisobeldesigns[at]hotmail[dot]com with your images, thoughts and stories.

Much Journal Love

  1. Hi Sophie, now I'm extra looking forward to reading your blog next week. Here's a link to some wonderful journals and field books that I collected recently: http://www.naomibulger.com/1/post/2011/7/how-do-you-doodle-my-five-all-time-favourite-field-books.html

  2. I am a journal keeper too. I used to carry mine all the time and have just started doing so again. Netbook and journal - foot in both camps.

  3. I always imagined that I would be an avid journal keeper, but it never came to be. I guess my blog is my journal these days. I keep lots and lots of 'jotty' notebooks with lists of things to do and things I like and things I want to become. And little drawings. Is that the same thing?

I'll look forward to your 'journal fest' next week.

  5. I guess I use my blog as a journal of sorts. I have never had the patience to keep a proper journal though I love the idea! But, funnily enough, I am a serials (journals/periodicals/magazines) librarian!

  6. I used to keep a diary back in high school, but I stopped and, no matter how hard I tried and how much I wanted it, I never went back. I am in love with notebooks, but I am afraid to start them so not to spoil them. Looking forward to your next week, hope I'll catch the bug once again :)

  7. I am a sometime journal writer, not everyday, but I manage to fill a notebook every year or so. I put everything in it, pictures, recipes, drawing, scribbles and nonsense. My father-in-law wrote a journal most of his life and I have been transcribing his writings to a blog -- it is actually quite tedious but if you are interested to read some life between 1929 and 1978 (not in order) and not all done yet, go to http://jrb1909.blogspot.com/

  9. I used to keep a journal up until I was about 22 and then just kind of stopped! I have tried to keep one again and I love the idea of it but I guess all the things I would put in my journal I know share with my husband. (does that sound lame?!) I do have loads of notebooks which I fill with all kinds of things! I love notebooks! Looking forward to your blog next week!

  10. I don't actually keep a journal, but I do have a habit of buying or being given beautiful notebooks and then never writing in them! (I don't want to spoil them!)

As you can probably tell I am really enjoying reading your blog! Your photographs are beautiful.

  11. I just wrote a post this week about my travel journals after digging them out of a box (http://madanddave.wordpress.com/2011/07/25/around-australia/). I look forward to reading your posts in journal week.
