Are you a collector?

I think I've always been a collector.. from the age of ten,  fossicking for shells and beads, to journals and cameras and now typewriters, telephones and green 1960's dresses, I love collecting adventures, searching little shops and garage sales for that special something that you've always been looking for.

So I'd love to know what are you currently collecting?

Much Love

PS. Thank you so much for all your macaron tips! I realised after further reading I needed to do a little bit more research and preparation before taking the macaron plunge and I can't wait to learn a bit more and get baking.

  5. My collecting began 25 years ago with snow scenes and matchbooks. Then came glass and antique buttons, thimbles, dictionaries, timber boxes, tiny tins, sewing etui's, antique sewing notions of all kinds, old keys, hat boxes, antique linen and powder compacts. My main quest is for antique and faux tortoiseshell but when I look round ... my life is a collection of gorgeousness. I've more than 3 of almost everything! Thank You Sophie it's fun hearing what others collect!

  8. Do shoes count ...? I do have a couple of pair of vintage shoes that I love (& wear). My family had a typewriter up until a few years ago. So bummed that we got rid of it.

I've had many collections over the years - postcards, stamps, matchbooks(which I wish I still had), candle snuffers, Josef figurines - there's probably more. I love buying the reusable grocery bags at stores - I will call that an addiction!!!

  19. I used to collect erasers and postcards as a kid, but then years of travelling with nowhere to keep things got me out of the habit!

My daughters are now starting to collect though - it used to be fairy books, but now it's littlest pet shop characters!!

I also have a question for you!
I was wondering if you would like to do a feature interview for our international creative blog hop?

It's a weekly thing that 5 of us around the world co-ordinate. We're all on different continents and each week feature a guest from our continent (I'm the Australasian host). Then we all link up and add a blog hop so people can take a 'creative world tour' and make some new bloggy friends!

If you're interested, I would love to feature you, your blog and your creativity!
Here's the link to last week's feature for you to see what it's like!

Hope to hear back from you!!

  20. Hi Sophie!
I am a collector. I collect owls, cook books, vintage spools, postcards and cookie cutters. I also have a fair collection of fiction and childrens books. At the moment I am studying the Lost Thing by Shaun Tan with my year 7 English classes. To introduce the idea of being a collector I took in my cookie cutters. The kids were amazed!

  22. I've been a collector all my life, of a variety of things, but my main love has always been china and stoneware, and Inkwells... which I was going to showcase each week on my other blog but got a bit sidetracked. We also collect anything to do with the area of London where hubby was born, and I hoard (and sometimes sell) all kinds of vintage knitting / sewing / craft / crochet 'stuff' and linens, I just cant help myself, always seeing things I think I need to have.

  23. I collect teacups and espresso cups! My favorite teacup I've collected so far is a commemorative cup from Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. My favorite espresso cup is from a local coffee shop that was converted from an old train station. I used to be strictly a tea lover, but I caved when my parents bought me an espresso machine for graduation...now there's no turning back! What a cute idea, to collect collectors :)

  24. Definitely a collector. I even do a series on my blog occasionally where I show my various collections. My favorite things to collect though are vintage cameras, vintage Pyrex, old books, owls, and ampersands.

  27. Hi Sophie! I have many little collections of things, but one of my favourites is my collection of vintage copies of Little Women. Sometimes I even go wild and add Good Wives and Little Men into the mix, but it's mostly about Little Women. I don't know why exactly, but it's always been one of my most treasured stories and I started buying copies whenever I saw them and just couldn't stop - I'm always on the lookout!

  28. I see myself more as a hunter/gatherer than a collector. :)

  29. Mostly, I collect dust as a result of all my collections. :-) But I also collect rare and first edition books, wooden spools...(strange, I know) and vintage gardening utensils. Love rolling pins, although I don't use them. I also collect old European kitchen utensils such as sifters, paddles, etc. Oh. And bird houses. And Animals. :-) Hop over to my blog for a glimpse at some of them...
    Love your blog,
