Happy Halloween Weekend..

Happy Halloween!

Well it is just the perfect weather for Halloween, wet, overcast and eery. My hubby and I have spent the afternoon carving pumpkins and searching for the last pieces of our costumes ready for a fabulous party tonight hosted by gorgeous Meg. My costume this year is a little of a play on all things literary. If it turns out the way it looks in my head I should be a zombie Jane Austen. Wish me luck!

What are you plans for this delightful weekend?

PS. The votes are very close for the Find of the Year. You still have time to vote. Pop over here for all the instructions.

Happy Happy Monday! Day 25

On this delightful Monday, I thought I'd share with you my latest baking adventure. My first ever rainbow cake, inspired by the amazing rainbow of delight herself The Dainty Squid.

I made it for my Year 12 Literature class to celebrate their final lesson and it was a wonderful success. They also had a few surprises for me, including an 'Oh Captain, my Captain' moment, just like Dead Poets Society. It was very moving indeed.

Wishing you a rainbow filled Monday!

Flea Market Find of the Year..

Welcome to Flea Market Find of the Year!

I thought as part of the wonderful Blogtoberfest, it would great to see everyone's favourite finds of the year and just for a bit of fun, vote for your favourite second hand discovery. Here is a collection of my own favourite finds of the year.

1. Sideboard from 'The Good Room' at Aroundagain
2. Blue Trunk from Salvos.
3. Telephone stool from 'The Good Room'
4. Working telephone also from 'The Good Room'

I've been so lucky with some of my finds, I think my very favourite would have to be the sideboard. I don't know how anyone could have parted with it, let alone throw it out at the tip. So what has been your find of the year? To enter your second hand treasure in the running to win Find of the Year, all you have to do is blog about it, then add your blog post to the Linky below. Please ensure you write your name and your blog name in the Linky (eg. Sophie @ Her Library Adventures) so everyone know who to vote for.

Now to the voting. To vote just email me at with the blog name of your favourite find. Too easy! You can only vote once so be sure to check out everyone's blogs before making your decision.

The Linky will be open until Tuesday 9pm. Voting will close on Saturday the 30th at midnight and the winner will be announced next Sunday at 10am. The winner will receive surprise stash of goodies which I will be revealing throughout the week and of course the title of Find of the Year.

Well I can't wait to see the best of the best!
Have a wonderful day and Good Luck!

Sweet Pictures.. Day 19

Oh my! What a busy start to the week. It is already Tuesday night and I haven't actually stopped for any length of time in two days. After compereing the fabulous Interschool Fashion Awards last night and a day of non stop questions, essays and stressed Year 12's, I finally got home at 8pm after a trip to Kmart (so happy they are open until midnight) to get all the bits and pieces I needed to throw a party for my homeroom tomorrow. So I think I'm nearly ready.. all except for that giant stack of practice exams I still have to mark before tomorrow.

There was however a little silver lining to my day, a lovely parcel that arrived this afternoon to be exact.

This is my fabulous new toy.. the amazing Zumi Digital.
Oh it is just the most gorgeous little camera, wonderful 'old school' style and contrast and already has a permanent place in my handbag.

How was your Tuesday?
Hope you are having a lovely week so far and are getting your Find of the Year ready for this Sunday.

Flea Market Finds..Day 16

Happy Flea Market Finds Sunday! How are you on this lovely day? I hope your week has been delightful and full of fabulous finds. Thanks so much to every who played along last week, there were so many great finds. Check them out over here.

This week my find comes from my favourite thrift store Salvos. It just goes to show, keep your eyes open, because you never know what you might come across. I always check the shoe section, because I have little feet and it seems there is always a random pair of shoes that no one else can fit into just waiting for me. This time was no exception.

I just love this pair of converse sneakers I found for $5. Great colour and the little skulls are just a bit cute too! They have already had a good outing, stomping around in the mud at the show. They could just be my new favourite sneakers.

So what have you found this week? To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. Remember you can play any time during the week! And please feel free to upload your fabulous finds to the Flea Market Finds flickr pool too.

So next week is Flea Market Find of the Year. This is your opportunity to show us your favourite thrifted delight and vote for your favourite find. Of course the find with the most votes will be crowned the Find of the Year. I'll remind you during the week and can't wait to see everyone's favourites!

Happy Sunday!

Sideshow Alley.. Day 15

The Mildura Show 2009..

The show is in town again.. and there is just something about the sideshow alley that has always intrigued me, ever since the days when I was so scared of walking past the haunted house that I would close my eyes. This evening my lovely hubby joined me, braving with cold and wet weather to soak up the carnival atmosphere and take a whole heap of photos.

Happy Friday!

My Creative Space.. Day 14

A few bits and pieces being created and altered on my sewing machine this week.. nothing exciting to show yet, but I'm certainly enjoying the challenge of making a Pocahontas costume for my sister who is going to a fabulous 25th birthday Disney party. It's been so much fun looking for inspiration and reminiscing over some wonderful classic Disney films. My favourite was always Beauty and the Beast. What's yours?

Check out all the other fabulous creative spaces over with Kirsty!

Spring Rain and Self Portaits .. Day 13

And yesterday just seemed to flit past my eyes without so much as a hello. I feel like it is going to be one of those weeks. With only two weeks left until the English exam, I'm certainly begin to feel the pressure of teaching Year 12. But I did catch a moment this afternoon, as the rain finally cleared and my eyes were not glued to a practice exam, to notice something truly beautiful in the garden.

"Beauty is truth, truth beauty,"
- that is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.
- John Keats

Oh and I almost forgot.. It's the self-portrait challenge today.. So I best join in the fun and you should too!

A totally random shot from last week sometime which was actually a mistake, I didn't even realise I'd taken it until I was editing. Got to love a mistake that turns out ok.

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday!

Flea Market Finds.. Day 10

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying a lovely Sunday wherever you are. The Spring weather is just beautiful here and we have been making the most of it this morning, already doing the rounds of the local tip and exploring the grand opening of the tip's new 'Good Room' where all the best bits and pieces can be found. So my flea market finds today are hot off the press. To check out all the fabulous flea market action pop over here. A big thank you for all those who played along last week, there were some wonderful finds indeed.

So I found a few cute things this morning in the good room and was very happy to see it full of other treasure hunters. I'm always fascinated to see what other people are searching for.

I was very happy with my finds today. A few lovely worn books, including the collected works of one of my favourite poets Banjo Paterson and a sweet candelabra which reminded me of Lumière from Beauty and the Beast.

So what have you found this week? To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. Remember you can play any time during the week! And please feel free to upload your fabulous finds to the Flea Market Finds flickr pool too.

PS. Flea Market Find of the Year will be taking place on Sunday the 24th of October so you have two weeks get searching. You will be able to enter your favourite find from 2010 and will go into the running to be the Find of the Year. There will be more details coming this week, so stay tuned.

My Creative Space.. Day 7

One of my all time favourite ways to spend a spare moment in my creative space..
A pair of scissors and a big pile of lovely magazines, just waiting to be explored.

I've just begun a new inspiration journal. I love using A4 hard cover sketchbooks. My intention is never to make it look too pretty, but just to fill it with beautiful and inspiring images. This is my fourth inspiration journal and I've found them to be a wonderful source for ideas and creative adventures.

Pop over to Kirsty's for more creative space goodness!

A quiet moment.. Day 6

This afternoon I'm taking a quiet moment. Before the essay correction begins and my mind is once again in overdrive (possibly until the early hours of tomorrow morning), I thought I would take a little time to enjoy a few things that always make my day. Drinking tea with my best friend, writing a few pages in my journal and enjoying the gorgeous new Inside Out magazine.. the perfect way to spend the afternoon.

Hope you are having a delightful Wednesday!

Sweet Afternoon.. Day 5

This afternoon in the sunshine, I watered the garden in bight blue high heels. I felt like a kid playing dress ups and it was delightful!

This moment reminded me that it's always the little things that really make me smile.

Flea Market Finds..

Happy Sunday! What a lovely day for a flea market find or two! Although I must say, I had forgotten about day light savings until I woke up this morning and was a little confused about the time and sunny it was. How has your weekend been? I hope you have discovered some treasures on your travels. To catch up on all the recent finds just pop over here.

My find this week again from the local Salvos, I must say, is one of my all time favourites, not because it is anything particularly amazing, but it is lovely and I've already worn it twice this week. I just love wearable finds.

My lovely Spring gypsy dress..

So what have you found this week? Or perhaps you might like to share something lovely from your wardrobe. To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. Remember you can play any time during the week! Bedroom Makeover.. Blogtoberfest Day 2

So on a lovely Spring Saturday morning I awoke with an idea, one that has been on my mind ever since we bought our beautiful little house. Our bedroom has a gorgeous high pressed metal ceiling with a lovely view of the front garden and I've been wanting to make over the pink walls and dark feel ever since we moved in. And well, being a lovely warm Saturday, today seemed like the perfect opportunity.

So after a trip to Bunnings for some paint and lamps and a quick stop off at Fantastic Furniture for a new chest of drawers and a lovely Parisian inspired print, we were ready to get to work. My fabulous hubby is in charge of the painting (which also included some stripping and sanding the crazy pink paint) and I got to Spring clean our wardrobe and redecorate (which has turned into washing, storing, repairing, in come casing recycling every piece of clothing we own). What I anticipated to be a one day project has now turned into a two day affair and I can't wait to bring everything together tomorrow and create a lovely new space. In the meantime however, our wardrobe is in the dining room, the clothes are in piles in the lounge room and poor Olive and Jack can't work out quite what is going on. After a long day of work, we are enjoying a glass of wine, a movie and a pizza and I am drawing inspiration from some of my favourite magazines and bloggers for decorating tips.

One of my inspirations is this gorgeous, eclectic bedroom which belongs to Artemis and Nao from tales of a jUnkaholic. I'm also loving the fabulous decorating ideas in Inside Out and Real Living.

I will be back in the morning with Flea Market Finds and some pictures of our finished project. I hope you are having a lovely and productive weekend!

Blogtoberfest Day 1

Welcome to Blogtoberfest Day 1! What an exciting month it will be. This year I think that Blogtoberfest for me is about keeping my sanity, you see the next four weeks are going to be all about practice essays and exams, marking, feedback, anxiety (both the students and myself) and emotional preparation for exams. So I'm certainly looking forward, more than ever to my little blog being a creative haven to take me away from work, if only for a few moments a day.

So where will my ramblings take me on day one. Why not straight to my desk, which at the moment looks like this..

Let me introduce you to the little softie monster I'm making for this year's Softies for Mirabel. Part owl, part cat with a little reindeer (well so my hubby says), I can't wait to see how my little monster turns out. I'm still searching for a name, so if you have one you think fits, please let me know. Oh and if you want anymore information about Softies for Mirabel, pop over and see Pip for all the details and to check out all the amazing creations.

I hope you are having a wonderful Friday and a great start to Blogtoberfest! I just can't wait to join in all the celebrations for the month. I will endevour a post or two a day and I have a few new features and a giveaway or two planned as well. To sign up, pop over to the ever fabulous tinniegirl and to keep track of all your creative ideas and wonderful giveaways, why not download this gorgeous calendar made by the very talented Kellie from 74 Lime Lane.

Let the celebrations begin!
