  9. I love your little brooches! My favorite city is Cefalu, Sicily. It is a gorgeous tropical paradise. You don't have to enter me into your giveaway because I live in the US and it would be expensive to send something, but I just wanted to let you know how beautiful the brooches are.

  10. Of course I have blogged about you as I am excited that you have upcycled my fabric scraps so beautifully. I don't want to enter the giveaway as I have one of you lovely brooches and somebody else should win one.
I do want to say that after living overseas for several years, I really appreciate being back in Brisbane so it is my favourite city in the world. However, I would then choose Rio de Janeiro for the delicious food, innovative fashion and wonderful live music played in the bossa nova bars. x

  16. Unfortunately, I have little travel under my belt, but of what of the world I have seen, I would have to say that Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is my favorite city. Perhaps it's because I went there for my cousin's wedding when I was thirteen, which was a magical and eye-opening trip for me. It was the first time I had been that far away from home, had ever stayed in a hotel and had even met most of my mother's family.
The most stunning memory I have of Pittsburgh is the night I went out to dinner with my aunt and uncle. We went to a seafood place that was on the top floor of a seven story glass building whose glass elevator was outside so you could see the whole of the city while riding up. I'll never forget the lights and how they sparkled like earthbound stars. The whole city seemed to have a celestial glow.

I will include you in my next blog entry. Please come and visit me, I'll have a pot of tea ready. http://thestorytellersdiary.blogspot.com/

As for my favourite city in the whole world - Paris and Amsterdam are right up there, but I'd have to say Brisbane. You have to love the city you live in, right?
    Cheers!

  21. Hi Sophie, Just wanted to tell you I think your old book spine brooches are great. I love the idea and of course the stories behind the re-purposed books.
Today I went out for coffee with my Mum and she was wearing her "I love Life" brooch you made us. This was quite moving, as next week she is having surgery to try and beat some serious health issues....luckily she is embracing life like we all should every moment!x Liz

  23. These brooches are gorgeous. So pretty, I love them. I just blogged a post about your give-a-way! http://factwoman.blogspot.com/

My favorite city has got to be Paris. My memories of my last trip there are bitterweet .

My father and step mom were married in Paris in a chapel at Notre Dame Cathedral. 30 years later I was in Paris with my oldest daughter, celebrating her high school graduation. As we were walking up to visit Notre Dame, I got a phone call from my step mom telling me that my father had just died. He had been very sick with cancer so it was not unexpected. It was so comforting to be in a spot that had meant so much to him, when I go the news. We lit a candle in his memory and then celebrated his life by having a wonderful week in the city of light. For this memory alone I will alway love Paris above all the other places I have have visited.

  32. I am LOVING your new brooches Sophie, this is a hard question does it have to be a city you have actually been to? If not I would have to say Paris, it is a city I have wanted to visit for as long as I can remember. 41. so beautiful Sophie! I haven't done that much traveling, so I haven't been to too many cities. I do hope to get to Paris in the next 18 months though. So, I would have to say Melbourne is my favourite city. I was born there and have been back a few times since we left when I was 3, and I just love it. For it's culture, it's gorgeous buildings, it's heritage, it's 4 seasons in one day, it's all beautiful.

  45. Oooo, London, for sure! Of course, I've never been there but it is a dream of mine and always will be. It's just too bad I don't have a time machine to travel right back to London in the middle of a Dickens novel. Now THAT would be heaven. Love your stuff!

  48. I love your creative ideas.

That's a hard one a favourite city. But ultimately I have to come up with Paris.

So much to see. Old winding streets, lots of steps, the Seine. Wonderful cake shops and more and those book shops, to loose yourself in.

If I were given a second it would be Lisbon.

  51. Great brooches! My favourite city in the world is Bangkok, Thailand (even after just returning from a European holiday!). I love the noise, the hustle, the chaos! I love the smell of food from the street stalls, the happy faces of the local residents, the flower garlands hanging as an offerings to Buddha... I don't think there is anything I don't like about Bangkok!

  52. I spotted some of your beautiful brooches on a 'brooch' post by Curlypops today and decided to pop on over for a visit. I just love your new designs, particularly any with type. Sooooooo pretty and I imagine, a real talking point when spotted as part of your ensemble!!!

I've been playing around with felt, buttons, crochet flowers and a few other bits and pieces to make some brooches myself, so I find you very inspiring! So much so, that I'm going to take a leaf out of curlypops book and show off my brooch collection. I'll mention your giveaway there as well.

My fave city is Melbourne. I haven't really travelled a terrible lot, but I love that you can always find something new and interesting when you go exploring around its streets. Cute, little shops, hidden restaurants, beautiful gardens..... just love it.
